Michter’s US*1 Kentucky Straight Rye is produced with selected and shorn American rye grain to maximize the extraction of flavor from the grain. The contentof each bottle matures in a single barrel, a unique attribute that reflects the extraordinary commitment to offering Michter's US*1 Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey of the highest quality.
By maturing in small batches in five unique barrels, a rich, complex and varied, but above all historical flavor was created. Using the contents of barrels with different aging ranging from 7 to 21 years, it allowed to create the richest Laphroaig flavor possible. As the name suggests, this new version of Laphroaig is inspired by the knowledge and traditions handed down from generation to generation by distillery managers, blenders and artisans. In 2019 it was also named Best Scotch Whisky No Age by Jim Murray's Whisky Bible.
The whisky from the only distillery in the coastal town of Fort William, with a view of the highest Scottish mountain from which it takes its name, is always very sought after. Its malty character, medium body and fresh notes of oranges are quite unmistakable and have been at the foundation of some historical blends. But this release is much more extreme in style, and all the more precious because of it. The influence of the first fill Oloroso sherry cask has resulted in a very dry whisky, with marked winey notes and an intense nose of sour red fruits (wild berries, cherries, but also peaches). At the palate, the dry character of the sherry is dominating: fragrantly fruity, but very spicy and hot, sharp like a blade.
