ARDMORE 10YO “ISLAY CASK FINISH” – WILSON & MORGAN 70CL 60,6%
€ 65,00 VAT includedA marriage of earth and sea obtained by letting this smoked Speyside malt rest in barrels that previously contained similarly smoked whisky from an Islay distillery, to give the product a slightly drier character and a hint of salty maritime influence.
-
ARDMORE 2009 “HEAVY PEAT” WILSON & MORGAN 70CL 48%
€ 43,00 VAT includedA new release of the beloved peated Highlander from Ardmore, even sweeter and maltier than before under the intense smokiness. This Ardmore is bold, intense, but gifted with an open faced sunny vitality that will make it loved by any whisky connoisseur.
-
BEN NEVIS 7YO 2013 “SHERRY WOOD” SINGLE BUTT WILSON & MORGAN 70CL 46%
€ 37,00 VAT includedThe whisky from the only distillery in the coastal town of Fort William, with a view of the highest Scottish mountain from which it takes its name, is always very sought after. Its malty character, medium body and fresh notes of oranges are quite unmistakable and have been at the foundation of some historical blends. But this release is much more extreme in style, and all the more precious because of it. The influence of the first fill Oloroso sherry cask has resulted in a very dry whisky, with marked winey notes and an intense nose of sour red fruits (wild berries, cherries, but also peaches). At the palate, the dry character of the sherry is dominating: fragrantly fruity, but very spicy and hot, sharp like a blade.

BENRINNES 2013 WILSON & MORGAN 70CL 46%
€ 60,00 VAT includedThis Speyside malt fits the bill, with its fresh, easy, refined flavour palette that lets the spirit speak and show its purity. At the nose it’s very gentle: a bouquet of spring meadow flowers, a delicately fruity note (bananas, oranges, apricots), a whiff of vanilla. It’s fragrant and caressing as few whiskies are. At the palate it remains very delicate, but more assertive in the intensity of taste: an intricate tapestry of acacia honey, vanilla, lemon peel, ripe oranges and black cherries, but also a slightly fatter touch of beeswax and even a hint of tannins that might be mistaken for a whiff of smokiness. Only the aftertaste grows in peppery spiciness and intensity, yet still remaining honeyed and easy.
-
BUNNAHABHAIN 2014-20 HEAVY PEAT WILSON & MORGAN 70CL 48%
€ 37,00 VAT includedExtremely smoky, ashy, full of maritime notes and a marked medicinal touch with a very clean and malty spirit as expected from Bunnahabhain, but at the same time it packs a touch in terms of pure 'peat power'. On the palate it is interestingly herbaceous, with rich notes of black licorice, gentian root. The finish is particularly warm, peppery and persistent, with the smokiness that reverberates for a long time after each sip.
-
CAOL ILA 14 YO 2007 1ST FILL BOURBON HHD FINISH WILSON & MORGAN 70CL 58%
€ 83,00 VAT includedA medium bodied Islay single malt, with the right balance between the maritime character and the influence of the casks. Of course it’s a very smoky and intense whisky, and the first impact at the nose is dominated by the rugged blast of the spirit at cask strength and by the wild peat.

CAOL ILA 21 YO 1998 “SHERRY FINISH OLOROSO” WILSON & MORGAN 70CL 57.6%
€ 288,00 VAT includedAfter twenty-one years, the rugged maritime character and the intense peat smoke that are the trademark traits of Caol Ila have definitely been tamed: a wild young whisky has now matured into a middle aged champion of finesse, balance and relaxed attitude. At the nose it initially seems quiet and restrained, but there is dark broody character lying beneath: the deep smokiness of pinewood embers smoldering in a fireplace, and of tarry ropes. At first sip, it reveals a surprising softness of heather honey, very elegant and well-behaved. After a few minutes, the smokiness builds up both at the nose and on the palate, becoming increasingly medicinal, while at the same time remaining in balance with the ripe fruitiness. A tannic hint becomes slightly noticeable in the end.

CAOL ILA QUERCUS ALBA 2008 WILSON & MORGAN 70CL 48%
€ 47,00 VAT includedAn exciting new release stemming from our long experience with maturation. This bottling is a vatting of five casks with a finish in fist fill bourbon, and two in virgin American oak. The result is the perfect equilibrium between the salty, dry, mineral taste of classic whisky from Caol Ila and the contribution from the virgin oak, which adds a creamy, buttery, robust backbone of sweetness: it’s rich, fuller bodied and bolder than usual, with the notes of vanilla and soft tannins that are expected from this kind of barrels. The secret lies in the balance, because the lighter bourbon casks still provide a classic lively counterpart with their intensely smoky and sharp notes of the sea. This is still Islay… but with a new sweeter twist.

GLEN MORAY 2007 SHERRY FINISH OLOROSO WILSON & MORGAN 70CL 48%
€ 41,00 VAT includedThe delicate whisky from this distillery in Speyside, usually very light in body and known for its flowery and honeyed touch, has received an extra layer of fruity richness thanks to a finish of twenty months in second fill sherry casks. Only slightly winey, it has developed notes of ripe peaches, apricots, red apples, and it has reached a fine balance between malty and fruity sweetness, and the drier and spicier notes from the sherry. It still maintains a gentle mouthfeel, but with an unexpected blast of pepper in the end, and even a slight quizzical whiff of farmy aromas: damp pastures, leather, horse stables. Fragrant, very easy and caressing, but with a punchy twist.
-
GLENLOSSIE 2008 15 YO PX FINISH WILSON & MORGAN 70CL 52,8%
€ 110,00 VAT includedThe aroma of this Glenlossie 15 years old, as expected from a 12 months finish in Pedro Ximenez, is raisiny, with dried plums too. There is a touch of freshly cut wood, but also a totally unexpected estery note that seems to bring us to Jamaica! At the palate it has that deep, round, thick and chewy richness which, on the other hand, reminds us of some American whiskies: sweet, very aromatic, with notes of vanilla, mint and camphor. Some toffee and dark chocolate too. A totally crazy bottling… maybe a bit “deviant” compared to what you would expect from Scotland, but a lot of fun and pleasure!
-
GLENLOSSIE 2013 OLOROSO FINISH WILSON & MORGAN 70CL 46%
€ 63,00 VAT includedThe whisky from this elusive Speyside distillery is always a rarity, as it has almost never been released in official bottlings. The influence of a 2-years finish in first fill Oloroso butts is evident in the winey, slightly sour note at the nose… although the fat distillery style still shines through, adding a curiously buttery touch. The palate is dominated by a nutty note, especially almonds: at times it really tastes like marzipan cookies! It’s slightly raisiny, with dried apricots too. There’s a contrast between the overall austerity of the style, the tannins from the oak, and the honeyed background. The tannic and austere side wins in the end, with a finale that’s rather oaky, a bit herbal, and again with a hint of almondy bitterness.
-
LEDAIG 12 YO 2008 TRADITIONAL OAK CASK STRENGTH WILSON & MORGAN 70CL 57.4%
€ 67,00 VAT includedThe only distillery on the Isle of Mull, once known for wild and unpredictable malts, has now reached a level of perfection in making peated whiskies that rivals the ones from Islay. It’s a smoky whisky of great cleanness, with the typical dry, maritime, salty and fresh notes of the best malts from the islands of the West Coast. Almost sour and citrusy at the nose, it shows the strength of maturation in second fill bourbon casks to let the spirit speak. Slightly gentler than usual, it still packs a wallop in terms of ashy smoke. On the long term, and with the addition of a drop of water, the typically flowery and vegetal notes the distillery is famous for shine through. Power and finesse at the same time.
-
LINKWOOD 14 YO 2009 SHERRY FINISH PX WILSON & MORGAN 70CL 50,5%
€ 99,00 VAT includedLinkwood rich and winey, but still very balanced in marrying the influence of the 16 months finish in first fill Pedro Ximenez. At the nose it’s quite markedly winey, with huge notes of sherry. Actually rather dry and nutty, which is surprising considering the sweetness of Pedro Ximenez! Of course there are also raisins, orange rinds, dried plums: the fruitiness balances the wine. At the palate, it shows a multifaceted style: the initial slightly tannic attack is soon followed by orange juice, vermouth, dried dates and raisins. It alternately dances between fruitier/sweeter and drier/spicier, and the addition of water can make the balance momentarily shift each way. The finale if very spicy, warm, and slightly astringent.
-
LINKWOOD 2014 SHERRY FINISH OLOROSO WILSON & MORGAN 70CL 48%
€ 63,00 VAT includedSunny, light-bodied, malty and very fragrant at the nose: it’s a flowery and fresh expression of Speyside that calls for springtime! But the finish in first fill Oloroso for 2 years gives it a twist at the palate, where it gains robustness and spice. It still remains light/medium bodied, fresh and agile, mineral and clean, with notes of orange juice and peel, peaches and apricots, but it starts to become peppery. With every sip, the spicy side begins to dominate, especially after a few seconds and in the aftertaste: no sweetness, it becomes dry, tight, even a bit astringent.
