This Mortlach was matured for rich distillery character in small batches then carefully finished in Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso-seasoned casks to build yet more levels of aroma and taste. At once smooth, sweet and savoury, the many-layered outcome mirrors the complexity of the mysterious Mortlach 2.81 distillation itself.

From your first sip of our new 15-year-old expression, you’ll fully appreciate that time maturing exclusively in the finest sherry oak casks. You’ll taste the intense burst of vibrant summer fruits on the palate and enjoy the rewardingly long finish it delivers. Bottled at 46% volume, natural colour and un-chillfiltered.
A selection of our finest single malt Scotch whiskys matured for a minimum of 20 years to tame “The Beast of Dufftown” into smooth submission and complexity. Mortlach "Cowie's Blue Seal" 20 Years Old takes its name from one of Mortlach's original bottlings dating back to 1909, which was also the inspiration for the design of the new range. Matured exclusively in American ex Sherry oak barrels, with a percentage of refill barrels, the expression is characterized by waxy notes of ripe fruit, spices and oak wood. It is a whisky that would have made the great Alexander Cowie proud.
Mortlach aged 16 was matured in a blend of premium American and European oak Sherry casks. The result is a product that closely follows the classic 16-year-old Mortlach «Flora & Fauna», but with a more marked balance and harmony.
A very interesting, rich and decisive Mortlach, suitable for those who love a robust whisky. Surprisingly complex, characterized by a beautiful interplay of notes: the sweetness of wood, notes of raw meat and citrus that balance the various aromas.
Notes of taste
Light on the nose, well balanced and rich in nuances. At first the fruity aroma of fresh green apples emerges, but soon decisive notes of malt and wood emerge. Full-bodied on the palate. The finish is bitter-sweet with hints of ripe raspberries, wood smoke, dehydrated lavender and cocoa.
